Facts of life, new generations and minorities are speaking out and technology is key. Today, I have read, seen more post, tweets, blogs, photos and videos regarding Dr. Martin Luther King than ever before and the inauguration, the second term of a black president. We shall overcome; we are overcoming.
The holiday used to be a joke. Most took a day off from work or school and few recognized the importance of what this day truly means.
Once again, the tide has shifted. New generations are being born, older generations are dying and others are accepting game changing roles and making a difference. Equality becomes paramount, when women become empowered and minorities speak out. The vote in November of 2012 spoke volumes. Today, the volume was turned up.
What next, a women President? How dare we, as a nation even speak of such a thing? Times are changing at a rapid pace, but we still have a long way to go. I am not watching from a far. Nope, no madam, no sir – not me, I’m a front-liner doing my best to promote equality, non-harming, awareness, balance and simplicity. What we do for ourselves dies with us, what we do for others and the world remains immortal. What we are doing today is making the world a better place to live and it’s about time.
