Alyce Lynne Carter, 59

August 11, 2023

Alyce Lynne Carter, 59, of Lancaster passed away on August 11, 2023. She was born to the late Bonnie Newby and Josephine Pinckney in Philadelphia where she lived for much of her youth. A graduate of Overbrook Highschool and Breran Institute. After meeting her husband Ethan Carter she migrated to Lancaster and dedicated over 25 years to the School District Lancaster County as a PCA for special education.

Alyce, known fondly by her grandchildren as Momma C, was a loving person with a kind heart. She focused on her family and loved her children and grandchildren dearly. Alyce was a great cook and baker she enjoyed going out to the beach or dancing to the latest reggae jam. She also maintained many friendships and connections throughout her life and made an impact on all those whom she met. Alyce was also quite fond of music, everything from gospel to metal which she enjoyed with her children. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Left to treasure her memory are her husband, Ethan Carter; her children Alannah Carter, Ethan Carter, Elijah Carter, and nephew Justin Marlow; her grandchildren Angel, Ezekiel, and Ethan; her great nephew Ezra; her siblings Bertrum Newby and Nanny Boo; her aunt Martha Holland; and many cousins including extended friends, and family. Along with her parents, she is preceded in her passing by her brother Bonnie Newby.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Brightside Baptist Church, 515 Hershey Ave, Lancaster, PA 17603, at 11 am. The family invites guests to a viewing one hour prior (10 am) to service. Alyce will be laid to rest after the service at Woodward Hill Cemetery.

A bright spot in my day when Alyce would stop to chat with me at the Information desk of the LGH Suburban Pavilion. She loved sharing videos of her great nephew in Baltimore. I already miss her great smile, contagious laugh and witty comments! I will be throwing flowers into the ocean as she did for others that have passed on and drinking a Mikes blackberry drink in her memory 💕 Rest in Peace until we meet again!🙏🏻 Lynne Lynch

My condolences to Alannah and the Carter family.  Alyce and I spoke not so long ago, she was thinking more about my family and how they were doing.  She spoke of doing a girls trip with her friends.  We would talk about the Leadership conferences we attended for Afscme and the community services we did together.  These are memories that I’ll cherish always.  I will also miss her smile and her baked beans.  RIP in peace my dear, and God grant peace to her family and all who knew Alyce.
Love, always

What can I say, I had the privilege to take care of Alyce for the last time at the clinic not knowing I wouldn’t see her again. This breaks me but it is something I’ll cherish forever! Rest easy my love❤️

Miss Alyce was such a beautiful person inside and out! My daughter grew up with your kids. Even though we didn’t see each other as much since our kids have grown, it was like no time had passed when we did. Rest easy until we see each other again!

This here is a hard one to swallow. I looked up to Alyce as a big sister, she has taught me so much about the school district and being a part of the union. We had our good times, as I will carry those memories with me always. I love you Alyce and will miss you. Just happy cause I know you’re sitting in heaven healthy and no more illnesses. ❤️❤️❤️
