Rose P. Cooper, 92

Rose P. Cooper, 92, formerly of Zelienople and Cranberry Township, passed away Monday evening March 3, 2008 at Landis Homes in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where she lived for the past two years.

Born August 30, 1915 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of Sebastian and Mary Stifter Pellkofer.  She graduated from Zelienople High School and Business School in Pittsburgh.  She was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church and had formerly been secretary of the Zelienople Chapter of Sixty Plus.

Rose was a strong and independent woman who will surely be missed. She never lost her great sense of humor and frequent smile. She enjoyed wood-working, ceramics, crocheting, playing cards and dancing.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Cooper; her sisters, Catherine and Delores Pellkofer; her brother, Oswald Pellkofer; and her half-sister, Anne Pond.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, John A. Cooper, Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and James R. Cooper and wife, Diane, of Beaver, Pennsylvania; three granddaughters, Lisa Cooper Scoma and husband, Zachary, of Hartford, Connecticut; Stephanie Cooper of Monroeville, Pennsylvania; and Jennifer Cooper Wilson and husband, Paul of Phoenix, Arizona; and great-grandson, Micah Bryant Wilson, of Phoenix, Arizona.

A special thank you goes to the staff and employees of Landis Homes who helped Rose through these last few days.

Friends will be received at the Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home, 219 East Grandview Avenue, Zelienople, PA on Friday, March 7, 2008, from 7 to 9 p.m., and again on Saturday, March 8, 2008 from 8:00 to 9:00AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at St. Gregory’s Cemetery in Zelienople.
