Joseph J. “Jay” Cooper, 27

Joseph J. “Jay” Cooper, 27, of Lancaster unexpectedly went home to the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born in Bristol, PA and was the son of Sandra Cooper. Joseph is survived by his wife Deborah Lynn (Landis) Cooper and their soon to be born daughter, Mackenzie. In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survived by two sisters and one brother; Monique Shields, Charlene Cooper, John Cooper, married to Christine, father and mother-in-law Donald and Sharon Landis, and seven nieces and two nephews.

Jay was employed by AECOM in Philadelphia for five years as a C.A.D. Draftsman. Jay was passionate about his love for his God and family. His love and excitement about his wife, Deborah, and their coming daughter, Mackenzie, was known by many. Jay put 100% into everything he did. Some of his favorite hobbies were paint ball, working out at the gym, and remodeling their house. Jay always had the constant ability to make people laugh.

A Celebration of Jay’s life will be held at Noon on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, with The Rev. Leo M. Neff officiating. The Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 6-8 pm. Interment will be private. Please omit flowers.

Dear Debra and Family,
Words cannot describe the sorrow and hurt a family endures at the loss of a loved one. Deb, the joy and happiness you and Jay have shared will give you and McKenzie the strength to carry on. God works in mysterious ways but he also works through the hearts and hands of friends and family. Stay close to them. You are surrounded by love. I love you.
Sincerely,
Cindy Baker

To the Cooper, Shields and Landis families, I don’t even know how to describe my shock and heart when I was informed of JJ going to be with G-d at such a young age and in such a way. I first met this now man when he was a 2 year old. He was the most gorgeous toddler. I took him several times during the summers to the pool at our community and to the playground. I just loved him. Of course during his growing up time I also hollered at him on occasion. I saw him grow from the gorgeous toddler to a handsome young man and now he is not here. So sorry that his little girl will never know her Daddy. My deepest sympathy to all.

I am so deeply saddened for your loss. I met Jay through HACC, we took several classes together, and frequently studied together. He always inspired me by his efforts to constantly do his best at everything he put his hand to,and by how much he loved his wife and family.I remember talking in class one day about important moments in our lives. He said one of the most important moments in his life was when he met,and later married his wife.I can still hear him saying it, he was so obviously in love.He was also strong in his faith even when he thought it might have cost him points on his grades,he had such a caring way of sharing his faith with his friends. He made such an impact on my life in the short time that i knew him.I loved him as a friend and deeply respected him and how he lived his life.I cant believe he is really gone. May God comfort and sustain you Deborah, and the rest of his family, and give you strength. –

My name is Chris and I work at Planet Fitness.

I first off can’t express how sorry I am!
I am going through my own hell right now.  I saw Jay just a week before this happened at the gym and he saw something was wrong with me.  I had told him my 19 year old son was just killed 2 weeks prior.  The look on his face dropped and he cried snd I felt so bad I had made him upset.  I was so happy for him knowing he was about to be a dad and told him that but he was so caring and upset for me at that moment.  I was just now filing paperwork and came across his cancellation and found out this way.  I lost my breath and had to sit down.  I am devastated by this and can’t express to you enough how upsetting this is.  Still in shock over my son, and now reading this I don’t even know about things anymore.  He was the nicest person at this gym and I am heartbroken over this.  I am so so sorry.  I know no words will help you with this.  Trust me when I say I still dont want to even hear anyone tell me its going to be ok.  If you ever need anything or wish to talk I work 3rd shift at the gym.
Always
Chris Valudes
