Allen L. Coulombe

June 13, 2014

Allen L. Coulombe, 76, of Manheim, PA, died Friday, June 13, 2014, at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy. Allen has shared the last 21 years with his loving wife and soul mate, Linda.

Allen was born in Farmington, NH and lived most of his life in Massachusetts. A graduate of Brockton High School, Brockton, MA, he attended Stonehill College in Easton, MA. Allen was a freelance CAD pattern engineer for the shoe industry for 50 years, retiring in 2000.

Allen lived his life as he wished on his own terms. What Allen liked, he loved and loved with a passion. His favorite vacation spot was Bar Harbor, ME. He loved to sit on the deck outside his room and watch all the boats coming and going. He loved the New England area, and he absolutely loved to eat lobster. He had several Sea Ray boats and dreamed always of the bigger and better boat to have.

His favorite things were MCBs; music, cars and boats. Classical music, including Luciano Pavarotti and the Three Tenors were at the top of his music lists. He could tell you all about every make of car and which car had the best “gear ratio” or little part. He had several favorite possessions including his John Deere tractor and his snow blower.

Allen was a great “true’ story teller. He loved to talk about making shoe patterns for some of his favorites like Familari Brothers, Joan Crawford, Marlene Dietrich, and especially recalling the size 22 for Shaquille O’Neil when he worked for Reebok. He loved watching old movies particularly Westerns on TV. He could often be found fetching the neighbor’s dog Zoey to watch John Wayne movies with him. His favorite attire was LL Bean jeans and polo shirts; he always said ‘you can go anywhere in jeans’ and he did!

Allen was very loyal to his circle of friends. Allen truly loved his wife Linda and he was the star of her life. He enjoyed retirement and was often kidded about having two speeds, slow and reverse. His favorite expression was a sigh and “O’Boy”.

Allen is survived by his loving wife Linda Mosconi Lasko Coulombe, his favorite sister in law and brother in law Irene and Dale Louda Sr of Shadyside, OH, their son Dale Louda Jr. and his children Andrew and Ellis of Chevy Chase, MD; his two bother in laws William Mosconi of Anaheim, CA, and Anthony Mosconi of Grenada, MS; his special family Amos and Sylvia Lantz and their children Sara Ann, Aquilla, Steven, Aaron, David Allen, and Amos Jr. of Lititz, PA; nephew Michael and wife Jennifer Lasko and their son Preston of Seekonik, MA; his special friends Jim and Maria Barber, David and Nancy Craig, John and Gail Robinson, Dennis and Dianne Nichols and Anita and Walter Smigill. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Almanzor “Jack” and Mary Wycik Coulombe; his first wife Sheila, several aunts and uncles.

Allen was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church and Council 12532 of the Knights of Columbus of PA recently and was a member of the Spencer, MA Council for 30 years.

Allen’s good humor and personality will truely be missed. We became friends easily when he married Linda and they made a great happy couple. He will be missed but remembered always. – Tom M
