Antonio J. Cunha, 74

September 30, 2023

Antonio J. Cunha, 74, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at LGH/Penn Medicine Hospital. He was born in Castelo Branco, Portugal and was the son to the late Antonio and Natalia Cunha of Portugal.

He was the loving husband of Chris (Snyder) Cunha with whom he shared 42 wonderful years in June of 2023.

Antonio moved to the United States in 1973 and shortly thereafter went to Fulton Bank to work in their International Department. This position led to working with clients in the wine industry which he worked in for over 35 years until his retirement 10 years ago. Antonio was a member of Conestoga Country Club for 29 years and enjoyed the game of golf and all of the fun memories he and Chris created there.

He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and also enjoyed traveling, fine food, wines, fishing and watching soccer.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Ann Beck, of St. Augustine, FL and grandsons Josh and Ethan, sister Milu and her husband Zé, of Portugal and many extended family members. Antonio was preceded in death by his parents, and his nephew, Pedro, in Portugal.

Family and friends are invited to Antonio’s Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 11AM at St. Leo The Great Catholic Church 2427 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA 17601. The family will receive guests at a visitation at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr., Funeral Home & Crematory 3110 Lititz Pike on Monday evening October 9, 2023 from 6:00PM-8:00PM, or Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the church from 10:00AM-11:00AM. Interment will be private for family at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.

The Funeral Mass will be Live Streamed at 11am, which can be viewed through this link.

The family of Antonio would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at LGH/Penn who took excellent care of our beloved Antonio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Antonio’s memory may be made to St. Leo The Great Catholic Church or Hospice & Community Care 685 Good Dr. Lancaster, PA 17604

Chris and family: I was sad to see that your husband passed away. I watched the video tribute and I was surprised it started out with the song “Happy” but I can see that he lived a full and happy life, full of family moments and love. I am sure he will be missed. He is gone too soon. My condolences to all of you.

Our dearest Chris,
We are deeply saddened by the news of Antonio’s passing. Yet, we can not help but smile at the memories of being together. The sadness is lessened by the memories of our adventures with you both in Lancaster. Antonio’s broad smile and quick humor in any situation always set a joyous tone for these moments. To Tose’ life was a celebration and he reminded us all to be joyously about it…
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We know you are comforted by their loving support.

Dear Family so sorry for your loss. I would be remiss if i did not pay respects to someone who was as candid and caring all in one like Antonio. My time over the years as a GM with the state liquor board,it was my pleasure to deal with this fine man. In the 1980’s when the state decided to have a sale (10 % off)i had 2 people to handle the hundred’s of customer’s,well i look up and there is Antonio to the rescue as well as every season and decade’s later he always was there. My late brother’s also knew you well and i will always remember Antonio as i do to all who have been an influence on the journey of life. You touched many,  Billy
