Carol A. Cyms, 67
Carol A. Cyms, 67, of Lancaster, passed away at Conestoga View on Saturday, July 7, 2012. She was born in Lancaster City and was the daughter of the late John E. and Mary M. (Rineer) Stauffer.
Carol was preceded in death by two husbands, Charles “Pete” Peters and Paul Cyms, Jr.
Carol was a lifetime member of Historic St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s grade school and was 1964 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School.
She retired as a steward and former member for eight years of the Rainmaker’s Association Lodge 203.
Carol served her country with the US Army Medical Corps as a nurse from 1966-1970.
She is survived by three step daughters, Elrena L. Killian of Mahoney City, Carolyn Dyer Cyms, of Elizabethtown, Dawn Marie Peters, of NC, three sisters, Dawn M. wife of John J. Mentzer, of Lancaster, Mary E. Tercha, of Lancaster, Barbara L. wife of Harry E. Mattis, of Lancaster, two brothers, Francis “Frank” D. Stauffer, husband of Susan, of Lancaster, John E. Stauffer, husband of Betsy F., of Lancaster, and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated in Carol’s memory on July, 12 2012 at 10AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 119 South Prince St. Lancaster, PA 17603 with The Rev. Leo Goodman III as Celebrant. A viewing will be held from 9-10AM prior to the Mass. Private interment will be in St. Joseph’s New Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard. Condolences to the Family

It is now Dec. 2, 2015 and something told me to look at the obituaries from Lancaster, Pa. To my surprise I find mom. I was so sad this picture showed up. Living in NC and didn’t know what happened to mom after St Joseph street. She was a super person and she loved me alot as I loved her alot. No more suffering for her. Dawn M. Peters
I am Donna Kaplan, donna_kaplan@hotmail.com. It was my pleasure to have worked with Carolyn Cyms at Lancaster Theological Seminary. What a nice young woman who was capable in her work, a good team player, and enjoyable to know.
I only met your Mother the day of your Dad’s funeral, Carolyn, but I am well aware that Mothers are very special; please know that my thoughts and prayers have been with you ever since I became aware of her passing.
I regret that I was unable to come to the funeral; it would have been nice to reconnect with you. I trust all is well with you.

Miss Carol…. You have no idea how much Cameron and I will miss you. You were our neighbor, friend, and fabulous babysitter for Cameron. We love(d) you very much and our condolences go out to your family. Sorry, we didn’t know about your passing until after the fact, we will pay our respects once Cameron returns on college break.
