Harry M. Drennen, 76

Harry M. Drennen, 76, a lifelong resident of Lancaster, passed away at Lancaster General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 30, 2019. Born in Lancaster to the late Jane (Banzhoff) and Walter Drennen. He was the loving husband to the late Sylvia (Pisani) who passed in 2001.

Harry enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of countless organizations, including: Commercial Travelers, 8th Ward Club, 7th Ward Club, Amvets Post 19, Lititz VFW, Sullivan County, West End Hunting Camp (Shunk) and a lifelong member of the Marine Corp League. He retired from the City of Lancaster Fire Department after 28 years of service, where he was stationed at Engine 3 and Engine 1 as a driver.

Harry is survived by his children: Jane Drennen-Duncan (Jimmy) of Lancaster; Harry Drennen, Jr. (Wendy) of Lancaster; Dennis Drennen of Pequea and Krista Fanus of Elizabethtown; his sister Jane Drennen; his brother-in-law George Sweigart; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Harry was preceded in death by his sister Janet Sweigart; and brothers: Walter K. and Donald Drennen.

Harry’s family will receive friends from 9 to 11 AM, followed by a service at 11 AM, Saturday, July 6, 2019 at The Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, 441 N. George Street, Millersville, PA 17551. Interment will follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. I am so sorry I could not attend Harry’s funeral.  I was out of state. I worked with your Dad many years on “C” Platoon on the Fire Dept.  Harry is in our prayers. I am sorry for your loss.  Your family is in our prayers.

My family was out of town on vacation and upon our return I read Harry’s obituary. That saddened me but also brought a smile reflecting on how many times Harry made me laugh when we were at Pisani family gatherings. My condolences to his entire family!
