Charlene Druce, 79

Charlene Druce, 79, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Moravian Manor.

She was the wife of the late Ray M. Druce, who passed away in 1977. Born in East Alton, Illinois, Charlene was the daughter of the late Charles and Edith (Noble) Edwards.

A high school English teacher, Charlene had taught in Anawan, Illinois. She had also served as the church secretary at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Holland for 14 years until 1993.

She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, where she served on the Altar Guild, as church Treasurer, on the Vestry, and with the ECW. She was also a member of the church choir.

Charlene was a graduate of Illinois State University. She enjoyed playing bridge.

She is survived by a son, Jeffrey L. married to Jane I. Druce of Lancaster; 2 daughters, Sheryl D. married to Thomas Roche of East Petersburg, and Ann E.  married to Thomas Brugger of Wyomissing; 5 grandchildren, Joshua and Jonathan Druce, Susan Roche, and James and John Brugger, and 3 sisters, Charlotte  married to George McGee of Mt. Pulaski, IL, Joann Heidloff of Bloomington, IL, and Grace married to Col. Derrel Dempsey of O’Fallon, IL.

Charlene was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Donald and Douglas Edwards, and a sister Edith.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 9-10AM at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 301 St. Thomas Rd., Lancaster, PA, 17601, with the funeral service to follow at 10AM. Interment in the Druce Family Cemetery in Grayslake, IL. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in her memory to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Alzheimers Association South Central PA Chapter, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110-9638, or Moravian Manor Retirement Community, 300 W. Lemon St., Lititz PA 17543.
