Eugene H. Duncan Sr., 72

Eugene H. (Pop) Duncan Sr., 72, of 1119 High Street, Lancaster, died Thursday, December 4, 2006 at Lancashire Hall.

Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late George A. and Mary J. Schmidt Duncan.  Eugene was married 10 years to D. Lynn Duncan. His first wife Barbara A. Brown Duncan died in 1993.

Mr. Duncan was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service for 32 years, retiring iin 1989. After his retirement,  he volunteered at St Joseph School.

Eugene served in the Army during the Korean War in Arlington National Cemetery. His memberships included St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he served as an usher for 45 years. He was Past Grandknight of the Knights of Columbus, Chapter 867, 8th ward Club, Loyal Order of the Moose #299, Post 19 Amvets, past president of National Association  of Letter Carriers Branch 273, Travelers Protection Association, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 16, Millersville VFW, Lancaster Liederkranz and the Twalkers of Park City. He was well loved and will be missed by his family and friends and was respected by member of the community.

Surviving beside his wife are two sons: Eugene Jr., husband of Linda A. Duncan; George A., husband of Sandy Duncan of Lancaster; a stepdaughter, Kathryn J. Roberts of Lancaster; eight grandchildren: Roseann, Jennifer, Nicole, Stefanie, Cody Elise Duncan, Morris III and  Virgil Roberts. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Duncan and a brother, George Duncan.

Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St Joseph Street, Lancaster, PA, on  Monday at 11:00 a.m.. A viewing will be held at the Charles F.  Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King Street, Lancaster, PA on Sunday night from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and on Monday at St. Joseph Church 10:00-11:00 a.m.. The rosary will be recited on Sunday night at 8:30 p.m..  Please omit flowers; contributions may be made in Eugene’s memory to St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund, 440 St Joseph Street, Lancaster, PA 17603.
