William D. Fichtorn, 87
William D. Fichthorn, 87, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Tuesday evening, December 4, 2012 at the Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center.
He was the husband of Lorraine H. Shreiner Fichthorn, with whom he was married for 31 years this past October. He was formerly married to the late Kathryn M. Kring Fichthorn who passed away in 1980. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Samuel E. and Cora Wagner Fichthorn.
Bill had been an owner and operator of his family’s business, the F&M Hat Company of Denver, for over 50 years until his retirement in 1995.
He was a member of St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church of Neffsville and was formerly a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Adamstown, where he had served on the church council.
Bill was a long-time member of the Adamstown Lions Club, enjoyed traveling, and spent part of the year living in Arizona.
In addition to his wife, Lorraine, he is survived by his daughters: Cynthia A. married to Marvin Oxenreider of Ephrata and E. Jane married to Craig Leid of Denver; his stepsons J. Douglas married to Judith Sowers of Scottsdale, AZ and Donald C. Sowers of Boerne, TX; 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and his brother, S. Robert Fichthorn of Denver, PA. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Melissa Beamesderfer and his brother, Emerson R. Fichthorn.
Bill’s family would like to express their thanks to all of those who took such excellent care of Bill over the years.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 10 Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601 from 10-11AM, with the Memorial Service to follow at 11AM, the Revs. Jacqueline Roderick, Mark Tedford, and Dana Statler officiating. Interment will be private.
