James D. Halford, Jr., 80
James D. Halford Jr., 80, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 11th, 2008 at the Essa Flory Hospice Center.
Jim was born October 23rd, 1927 in Batesburg, South Carolina, and was the son of the late James Dorman Halford and Mary (Jaudon) Halford.
Jim was also the loving husband of his devoted wife, Rose (Micciche) Halford who went to the Lord before him on August 19th, 2001.
Jim was employed by RCA as a parts-maker and a painter for over 25 years, and was known as "Big Jim", proprietor of Halford’s CB shop for over 25 years.
In WW II, and the Korean War, Jim proudly served in the U.S Navy. He volunteered with his wife at the Lancaster General Hospital, rode as a member of the Pagoda Motorcycle Drill team, and actively participated in the Pfizer retirement activities. His most-loved activity was to travel, both world-wide on cruises and by air, and across this country a couple of times in his R.V.. Jim recently made Florida his winter R.V. destination.
He attended St. Anne’s, and St. John Neumann Catholic Church, as well as his native Baptist church.
Jim is survived by his son David S. Halford and his wife Jeannie, along with his two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Amanda of New Cumberland PA.,
three brothers, Robert Y. Halford of Atlanta, GA, Jake H. Halford of Charleston, S.C., Jack T. Halford of Marietta, GA, and a sister Marion Barksdale of Six Mile S.C.. Jim’s in-laws living in Lancaster are Mary and George Crook, Josephine Micciche, and Salvatore Micciche. He also has several dear nieces and nephews. His beloved companion, Pat Rousseau, of Lancaster, continues on with their cherished puppies, Buffy and Buddy.
A service will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel Inc 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz , PA 17543 (717) 560-5100 on Friday May 16th,2008 at 11AM. There will be a viewing from 10AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in James’s memory to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster PA 17604-4125.
