John P. “Jack” Heim, 78

John P. “Jack” Heim, 78, passed away suddenly in Glens Mills, PA on Wednesday, March 7, 2012.

He was the husband of the late Elizabeth A. “Betty” Swanson Heim, who passed away in 2009. Born in Philadelphia, Jack was the son of the late John M. and Frances (Riley) Heim.

Jack had worked for J&J Snack Foods of Pennsauken, NJ as Vice President of Engineering and Operations from 1988 until his retirement in 2000. Prior to this, he had worked at Anderson Bakeries for 30 years, where he was instrumental in the setup of the initial plant.

He was a 30 year resident of Lancaster County from 1958 to 1988. He enjoyed woodworking, sailing, and especially spending time with his family and at the shore.

Jack was a member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Chadds Ford, PA.

He is survived by his six children: Elizabeth Heim, wife of Phillip Louie of Lancaster, John P. Jr husband of Carol Heim of Clarks Summit, PA, Michael C. husband of Diane Heim of Lancaster, Mark J husband of Tammy Heim of Lancaster, Theresa Heim Swartz of Landisville, and Eric T. husband of Sakura Heim of Yokosuka, Japan; his 16 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and his sister Marie wife of Frederick Hess of Dresher, PA. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law: Shirley wife of William Weaver of Florida and Janice wife of Richard O’Donnell of New Jersey.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 10 AM at St. Cornelius Catholic Church, 160 Ridge Rd., Chadds Ford, PA, with the calling time at the church from 845 to 945AM.
