Claude T. Heiney, 90

Claude T. Heiney, 90, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and friends, on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Essa Flory Hospice Center. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Elsie (Troop) Heiney. He was married for 56 years to his loving wife, Mary Ellen (Shertzer) Heiney.

Mr. Heiney was employed for 55 years with Acme Markets retiring as a Meat cutter in 1978. He was a member of the Lancaster Commercial Travelers. He enjoyed spending time with his family and church Claude was a huge Phillies fan, who enjoyed Horse racing and cards particularly poker. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.  He was a member of the Christ Covenant Church in Conestoga.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children: Georgiann Rittenhouse, Sandra, married to Barry Turner, Wesley Heiney and Lori Grove all of Lancaster, John Heiney, married to Kate of Audubon Park N.J.; eight grandchildren, Joshua Turner, Holly Turner, Shannon Jones, Matthew Pavlick, Christopher Grove, Brandon Grove, all of Lancaster, Megan Csongradi and Bailey Heiney, both of New Jersey; four great-grandchildren, Haley, Sierra, Garrett, Aidan; two sisters, Betty Nolan of Lancaster and Mary, married to Richard Jeffries of Pequea; two brothers, Earl Heiney, married to Betty of Lancaster and Robert Heiney, married to Gloria of Lampeter; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Heiney and one brother-in-law, Earl Rinier; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sons Philip, Jay and George; three sisters, Cora Lesher, Geraldine Rinier and Dorothy Dabler; two brothers, Kenneth and Donald Heiney; and a son-in-law, Ray Keith Grove.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 441 N. George St., Millersville, at 11AM. Officiating will be his pastors Mark Conrad Sr. and Charles Levering. Friends may be received from 10AM until the time of the service. Interment will be at Colemanville United Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers , memorial contributions may be made in Claude’s memory to Christ Covenant Church, 3310 Main St. Conestoga, PA. 17516 or  Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA. 17604-4125.
