Elizabeth C. Henkel, 95
Elizabeth C. Henkel, 95, of 631 W. Chestnut Street, Lancaster, died Friday night, January 19, 2007 at St. Anne’s Retirement Community.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Samuel A. and Mary I. Procopio Clerico. Elizabeth was the wife of the late John H. Henkel who died May 1987.
Mrs. Henkel was employed by the former Hager Brothers Department Store in Lancaster. She was a life long member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, where she volunteered in several capacities. She also volunteered at the former St. Joseph Hospital in the Pastoral Care office.
Surviving are six children: Philip A. Henkel of Millersville; Richard G. Henkel of Lindenwold, NJ; John H. III ,husband of Linda Henkel of Pittsburgh; Anne E., wife of Dr. Roland Foerster of Kenzingen, Germany; Rosemarie, wife of Frederick Hartner of Macungie; and Mary K. Shelly of Lancaster; twenty two grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters; Teresa R. wife of Victor Cetroni of Ardmore, and Gloria A., wife of Edward Merinsky of Lancaster.
Funeral Services will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut Street, Lancaster, PA on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Interment following the service in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA. A viewing will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King Street, Lancaster, PA on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Please omit flowers.
