Anna L. Henry, 98

March 01, 1923 - February 06, 2022

Anna “Anne” L. Henry, 98, formerly of Walnut Hill Road, Millersville, passed away at the Mennonite Home on Sunday, February 6, 2022. She was born in Chesapeake, WV, to the late Luke and Mary (Shimko) Tonkovich. The oldest of 9 children, Anne helped her mother raise her siblings. She graduated from Fairmount High School, Fairmount, WV.

She worked at Westinghouse while living in West Virginia. During World War II Anne went on a double date, met her future husband Carl who was in the Army, and then on a three day pass they were married. Anne and Carl spent 62 years of marriage together before his death in 2008. Once settled in Millersville, she worked at Hamilton Watch during the War, and then was a wonderful homemaker for Carl and their children. She was a loving caregiver to Carl when his health failed.

A member of Grace Baptist Church of Millersville, Anne sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School. She was an avid reader, enjoying health books and reading the entire Bible several times. Anne loved tending to her vegetable and flower garden. She also loved the company of her many dogs.

Surviving Anne are her 3 children, Joyce E., wife of John C. Stumpf, Jr. of Lancaster, Larry W. Henry of Millersville, and Carol A., wife of Keith A. Kauffman of Brownstown; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Fischer, Donald Henry (Sherry), Joseph Stumpf, Matthew Kauffman (Mary), and Alexandria Kauffman; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-granddaughter; and 3 siblings, Josephine Ruether of Columbia, MO, Shirley Barrackman (James) of Warren, OH, and Joseph Tonkovich (Patricia) of Ocala, FL.
In addition to her husband, Anne was preceded in death by 5 siblings, Elizabeth Franks, Mildred Dellassandro, Louis Tonkovich, Richard Tonkovich, and Doris Luparello.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at the Mennonite Home and Dr. James Spicher for their loving and exceptional care over many years.

A viewing will take place 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 North George Street, Millersville, PA 17551. The funeral and the interment in Conestoga Memorial Park will be private.

Carol and loving Family ,
Please know our heart aches for you all as you mourn the loss of our Dear Anna.  Her spunkiness and humor was endering to us all .  She will be missed greatly here in Personal Care and on Landis Run. She could crack me up more than any other and gave the best hugs.
Please know that she will be in our hearts always as she touched so many of us!

Sincere heartfelt condolences to the family of dear Anna Henry. Please know that I thought so much of her while working at Mennonite Home Communities. Anna’s smile and upbeat attitude really made an impression on me and I wanted to share that with you all.
