Robert D. Hensel, 75

Robert D. Hensel, 75, of Millersville died Monday, September 11, 2006, at his residence.

He was a Research Scientist for Armstrong World Industries for 36 years until retiring in 1989.

He graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1953 and later, received his Masters in 1959 and Doctorate Degree in Physics in 1968 from Lehigh University.

He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in El Paso, Texas.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting, fishing and skiing with his family.  He was a member of the Conestoga Country Club in Lancaster and the Tara Golf and Country Club in Bradenton, FL.

He was married 52 years to Joann W. Hensel.

Born in Addison, PA he was the son of the late Daniel C. and Lillian Heilman Hensel.

Surviving besides his wife are three children: Margaret married to Larry Saunders of Lancaster; Karl Hensel married to Steve Hansen of Kihei, Maui, Hawaii; James married to Connie Hensel of Lancaster; three granddaughters: Laura Saunders; Brianna Hensel; Sabrina Hensel and one sister, Margaret Terjak of Ventura, CA.

A memorial service will be held at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 441 N. George St., Millersville on Saturday at 12:30pm.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:30am until time of service.  In lieu of flowers contributions in Robert’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster PA 17603.
