October 29, 2014

Margaret Rhodes Herr, 103, formerly of West Lampeter Twp., died Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Brethren Village. Upon completing her Master’s Degree from Penn State in 1956, Margaret taught special education and pioneered the first life skills class in Lancaster County. She also assisted her husband Landis who was the tax collector for West Lampeter Twp. from 1956-1965.

Margaret was a member of the Lancaster Church of the Brethren, where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and served as Librarian. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Lampeter Fire Company. Margaret enjoyed singing and playing the piano in a family quartet at church events, traveling the US with Landis and making crafts and special gifts for friends and family.
