Donald C. Herr, 86, formerly of 323 Winthrop Drive in Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 13, 2016.
He was the husband of the late Marjorie A. Lauer Herr. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late M. Reeder and Edna Styer Herr.
Donald had worked for ACME Markets for 31 years until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of the ACME Union of Retail Clerks.
He loved to dance and enjoyed hosting parties for friends with his wife at their home and loved the theater and country music. Donald collected Hess and Win-Ross trucks, loved to take care of his garden, playing bingo,and enjoyed the company of his poodles. He assisted with the democratic polls and voting.
In his younger years, he played recreational basketball, football, and baseball.
He attended St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church.
Donald is survived by his brothers: Richard E. married to Esther J. Keen Herr of Lancaster and Harold E., married to Georgianna Flood Herr of Sussex County, DE. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held Monday, March 21, 2016. Friends will be received from 10-11AM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA, with the Funeral Service to follow at 11AM. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
