Ella Mae was a 1937 graduate of West Lampeter Township High School and a 1942 graduate of Millersville Teachers College where she played the trumpet in the marching band. She was an English teacher for four years but preferred being a homemaker and bookkeeper for her husband’s excavating business.

I was a neighbor of Mrs. Hershey, her son Bobby and I were good friends, we used to wrestle in the basement in there house, Mrs. Hershey was always friendly and smiling, I used to get upset when ever we had a snowstorm, Mr. Hershey,( Digger Dick) would start using his snowplow, and I thought that would keep our school from closing, lol.
