I just found out about this. I’m so sorry to hear. I really liked Lew. Some years back a friend and I decided to ride the Black Rock Retreat bike ride which was 125 miles in one day. It was a little daunting, and the first hour or two were hills and fog. At one point this other cyclist came upon us, and we started talking. We ended up spending the entire day riding together. Lou made a fun day into a fantastic day. I will never forget that wonderful trip and Lew’s sense of humor and kindness and willingness to stay with two women who were obviously slower than he was. I should say, one woman who was! He taught us more about drafting and we ended up with a 15 -1/2 mile per hour average, better than we would’ve done alone. A year or two later I was asked to play flute for a chamber singers event, and Lew and I reconnected. What a great guy! I’m so sorry for your loss. Ceci Good

I was very sorry to read of Lew’s passing on the Lancaster Bicycle Club’s listserve. I’m not very active in the club any more so I hadn’t seen Lew in a couple years. But that does not lessen my sorrow. I hope you all are holding up well, knowing you have a caring circle of family and friends. Bill Hoffman

Sandy – My sincerest condolences to you and your family.  Lew was caring, had a genuine smile, was always ready to laugh and had a very kind heart.  We rode many miles together on club rides.  Lucky for me, Lew was also my SAG buddy for the Covered Bridge Metric Ride.  Lew knew the back roads by heart and we were able to transport riders back to ride start locations very quickly.  I appreciated my time with Lew & will miss him.
