Richard H. Hess, 95
April 20, 2018
Richard H. Hess, 95, of Brethren Village, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018, after a brief illness at Heart of Lancaster Regional Hospital, Lititz. Born in Strasburg, he was the son of the late S. Paul and Mabel (McClune) Hess. Richard was the beloved husband of Marian (Kreider) Hess, with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage.
After graduating from high school, Richard honorably served his country during WWII with the U.S. Army and was awarded a Purple Heart. He worked as a Supervisor for Hamilton Watch Company from where he retired after 39 years of service. After retiring, Richard became a Car Salesman for Larry Murphy and Faulkner Chevrolet; a job which he truly enjoyed because he loved cars and talking about cars. Also an outdoorsman, he liked to hunt and go boating.
In addition to his beloved wife Marian, Richard is survived by his sister, June Eckman of Lancaster, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Dorothy Dissinger, and a brother Donald Hess.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Richard’s memory may be offered to the Good Samaritan Fund at Brethren Village Retirement Community, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543.
