Alma M. Hogan, 93

December 21, 2022

Alma M. Hogan, 93, of Manheim Township, passed away suddenly at Lancaster General Penn Medicine Hospital on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from a brain aneurysm. Her son, Craig Hogan, a nationally ranked Formula race car driver, was killed in a racing accident in Laguna Seca, California in 1985. She is now rejoicing with them in heaven.

Alma served on several boards including, Boys & Girls Club, Meals on Wheels, former President of Jaycees, was a benefactor of the Fulton Theatre, and was a long-time member of the Hamilton Club. She was well known for her musical talents as a member of the Reg Kehoe and Marimba Queens Band.

She is survived by a son J. Stephen Hogan, husband of Christine, of Lancaster, a daughter Michele H. Despite the many tragedies in her life, Alma lived her life with grace, compassion, and a smile on her face. She was the most wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Alma loved traveling and lived every moment to the fullest. In the last months of her life, she was able to enjoy trips with her family and beloved dog, Shia, to Newport, Disney World, and Bermuda. She will be immeasurably missed by her family, friends, and the Lancaster community.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Alma’s birthday, Sunday, April 16th, 2023 at 4PM at the Lancaster Country Club 1466 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601. The family will receive friends at Lancaster Country Club from 3pm-4pm. A dinner will follow the Celebration of Life Service in the ballroom.

A private burial has taken place at Conestoga Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held on her birthday, April 16th, at the Lancaster Country Club to honor Alma. A future announcement will appear in LNP with further details. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boys & Girls Club “Camp Hogan” P.O. Box 104 Lancaster, PA 17608.

Dear Steve & Michele,
Sorry for your loss. Alma certainly enjoyed a full life and was the perfect partner to serve as a keel for Jim. Getting to know your family was an enjoyable time, as I began my time in the RE business. Your mother had more influence on Jim’s business than most people realized. She was constantly in touch w/Mrs Mau, keeping tabs on things.

Sincerely
Bill & Barb Hazlett

Our beloved Aunt Alma was such an incredibly kind and wonderful lady. Enjoying memorable times with her was always such a privilege and pleasure on our occasional trips to the Lancaster area over the years, or her visits with the Hogan relatives of Georgia. It was always a guarantee that a “good time would be had by all” when you were in the company of Aunt Alma and Uncle Lige. Our Love and Condolences to Michelle, Steve, and all their family.

Steve and Michelle, what a wonderful life your mother had.  Please treasure that at this sad time.  Even though we haven’t seen each other in many years I have such fond memories.  Your parents taught me to ride a bike.  That how far back we go.  My parents Mike and Bertie were like extended family and really enjoyed that.  The last time I saw your mom was when we settled on our home at Cobblestone Court.  It was like old home week. I will always remember her and Lige.
