Lori L. Hopkins, 52

Lori L. Hopkins, 52, of Neffsville, PA, passed away on Monday, December 24, 2007, at the Essa Flory Hospice Center after a long and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the wife of Richard O. “Dick” Hopkins with whom she celebrated 19 years of marriage in April of this year.

Born in Ephrata, PA, she was the daughter of Samuel and Eleanor (Ruth) Drybread Jr. of Akron. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church.

A 1973 graduate of Ephrata High School, Lori moved to Atlanta, GA and established her career in the hospitality industry with Embassy Suites Hotels. In 1988, she and Dick married and moved to Hunt Valley, MD where Lori became the Director of Sales at the Embassy Suites in that location. In 1990, the couple moved to Lancaster and Lori became the Special Events Coordinator at Conestoga Country Club for the next ten years. From the spring of 2000 until the present, she was the Director of Catering at the Netherlands Inn and Spa, formerly known as the Historic Strasburg Inn.

Lori had a variety of interests but none superseded her love of family. She enjoyed traveling and had a fondness for the shore; however, most of her vacations were spent visiting family in Ohio and Georgia.

In addition to her husband and parents, Lori will be lovingly missed by two children: Chad A. Wissler, married to Christina, of Gillette, WY; and Chantel L. Wissler of Lancaster; as well as Dick’s four children: Jennifer L. Hopkins, married to Matt Neel, of Senoia, GA; Kelly L. Golkin, married to Michael, of Edgewater, MD; Mark R. Hopkins, married to Angela, of Senoia, GA; and Katherine W. Claman, married to Michael, of Senoia, GA. She left ten grandchildren, including Sydney, Brandon, Zachary, Katherine, Jeffrey, Andrea, Chase, Blake, Kennedy and Ty, as well as a great-granddaughter, Maddison. Lori is also survived by two sisters: Ivy Texter, married to Thomas, of Ephrata; and Tracy Strickland, married to Jon, of Murraysville, GA.

The family will receive friends at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA on Friday, December 28, 2007 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 301 St. Thomas Road, Lancaster, PA on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Ephrata. If desired, memorials may be sent to the Essa Flory Hospice Center, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
