Elsie M. Horn, 92

Elsie M. (Wolf) Horn, 92, of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at St. Anne’s Retirement Center, Columbia.
Born in Lancaster, she was the wife of the late Edward J. Horn, to whom she was married 37 years before his passing in 1995. She was the daughter of the late Carl and Grace A. (Hecker) Wolf.
Along with her husband, she was the owner of J.P. Horn and Company in Lancaster, where she worked as a seamstress and office manager until her retirement in 1982.
Elsie was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Lancaster. She was also a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the BPOE # 134 and the Happy Hours Club of the Lancaster Recreation Commission. She played on the “Dairy Maids’ girl’s softball team.
A 1939 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, she was an avid Phillies fan, enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, crocheting, painting, sewing, and reading.
Elsie is survived by a step-daughter, Dolores Moser of Conestoga; four step-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was the last surviving member of her family, having been preceded in death by a step-daughter, Dorothy Hershey and 5 sisters and 5 brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Saturday, July 20, 2013 at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 with Father Daniel Mitzel as Celebrant. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.

To the Horn Family, My heart and prayers are with you at your time of sorrow. I can only remember meeting Aunt Elsie on on occasion and that was when I was 12 yrs of age. My parents Chuck and Estelle Burrows (Wolf) made the trip to Lancaster to visit her parents and she was there. What a wonderful lady. She was my mothers favoriate Aunt. I only wish I could have got to know here more. I will keep all of you in my prayers. God Bless Rosie Burrows Ballow, Ohio
