October 27, 2023

Ian M. Keene was intelligent, kind and very entertaining to all his family and friends. He passed away unexpectedly at his home in Lancaster, PA on Friday, October 27, 2023 at the age of 27 years.

Born in Lancaster, PA, Ian was the cherished son of Wayne and Erica (Fierstein) Keene. He was a beloved brother to Ashlyn Keene (fiancée of Chris Eldredge), Dana Weist (wife of Zakk), and Mallory Keene. Ian held a special place in the hearts of his family, including his maternal grandmother, Linda Fierstein, and his paternal grandmother, Agnes Brewer. He was also a nephew to Annette Santora (Patrick), Brian Clendenin (Shannon), and Roger Brewer, Jr. Ian was a beloved cousin and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Roger Brewer.

Ian was a 2014 graduate of Lampeter Strasburg High School and LCCTC with a degree in automotive technology. He continued his education at Thaddeus Stevens College and graduated from the production welding program.

He found his calling as a welder and fabricator, contributing his skills and expertise at Tait Towers, SPS, Wheelhouse Mechanical and Yoe Construction.

Ian had a passion for ice hockey. He played from age 6 to 18. After participating in the Friendship Kitchener Exchange he became a goalie. He played for Lancaster Firebirds and Regency Ice Cats travel teams and LSHS team.

Ian had a zest for life that extended beyond his professional pursuits. He had a passion for tattoos, modifying/detailing his vehicles and riding BMX bikes and motorcycles. Ian was known for his impersonations and sense of humor.

Ian was one of a kind. He will be deeply missed by many. I will forever be grateful of the times we got to ride at the skatepark together and just talk about life. He always talked good about me and respected everyone around him. Until we meet again my friend, rest easy.  anonymous

The heaviness on my heart is unbelievable right now. Time has passed, but I have such fond memories of a sweet young boy who lived down the street.  With his energetic spirit he brought so much laughter and joy to our family.  To see him mature into a young adult over the years and hear him talk about his passions just makes this even harder. I’m sorry the pains and pressures of this world were weighing on him so heavy, and that this pain and heartache is now weighing on you and your family.  We will always remember Ian and the memories that we were able to make with him!  Marla & Matt Rush
