Lawrence G. Klopfle, 72

Lawrence G. Klopfle, 72 of Millersville, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away Wednesday December 31, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Lawrence John and Louise Margaret (Fischer) Klopfle. He was the loving husband to Margaret (Smith) Klopfle with whom he shared over 48 years of marriage.
He was a police officer for the city of Philadelphia for over 32 years and retired with the rank of Lieutenant. After retiring to Lancaster, he worked for a security agency based at Alcoa for a number of years.
Larry was a member of the Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 5, where he was recently given an award for 50 years of membership.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed reading mystery novels.
Above all, Larry was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Lawrence Klopfle, Jr., husband of Elysa and a daughter, Heather Joniec wife of Jeffrey, all of Millersville. Also surviving are his three grandchildren- Nicholas, Jason and Zoey Joniec and his two sisters and brother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11AM on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603 with Rev. Mark E. Weiss as Celebrant. Friends will be received one hour prior to the mass at the church on Thursday. Interment in St. Joseph’s New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lawrence’s memory may be made to the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 5, 11630 Caroline Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19154-2100.
