Richard “Dick” Kochel, 90

Richard “Dick” Kochel, 90, of Lititz formerly of 8 Elmwood Terrace, Lancaster passed away Monday, October 18, 2010 at his home.  A native of Lancaster, Dick was born to the late Milton and Helen Kochel on April 10, 1920.  He and his wife Doris were in the first graduating class at McCaskey High School in 1938.  He was working locally when duty called to serve his Country in the U.S. Army in World War II.  Following the end of the war, he returned to Lancaster and was married and took a position with the Lancaster Newspapers as an Advertising Account Executive in 1946, a position he held until his retirement in 1985.

Dick and Doris raised their children in Manheim Township where they continued to live until 2003 when they relocated to Moravian Manor in Lititz.  Dick was an active community member who held membership in numerous organizations including the Elks Lodge # 134 and the Masonic Lodge #43.  He and Doris were avid travelers and for many years enjoyed their second home in Long Beach Island, NJ.

Dick is survived by his wife Doris with whom he had celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on April 21.  He was predeceased by his sister, Jane Mummaw and is survived by his brother Kenneth Kochel, his daughter Dorinda Adams (husband Robert H. Adams, Jr.), his son David Kochel (wife Tobi Kochel), and five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A private family service will be held to memorialize Dick’s rich and full life.  Memorial contributions can be sent to Hospice of Lancaster, PO Box 4125., Lancaster, PA 17604.
