Joan Kreider

Joan (Coonan) Kreider, age 84, entered into rest Thursday evening, April 13, 2006, at her home.

She was the beloved wife of Franklin Kreider for 61 years, and the matriarch of a large and loving family including seven children: Mary Jo wife of Gary Grove, Franklin husband of Mae, Carol wife of Christian Wagman, James husband of Mary, Robert husband of Edie, Kathleen wife of Patrick Naimoli, and Richard.

Joan will be missed by her sisters-in-law Rosemarie Coonan and Mary, wife of Herbert Eichelberger, and her brothers-in-law Harold Meck and William, husband of Pearl Kreider.

She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters and one grandchild.

Joan was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for over fifty years.  She worked for many years in the school cafeteria while her children were attending the parish school and she and her husband spent 25 years counting the church collections every Sunday.

After raising her children, Joan worked for the Bank of Lancaster County for 17 years until her retirement.

She loved wintering in Myrtle Beach, playing bridge with her friends, playing solitaire on her computer and doing crossword puzzles.  However, her family was her passion.

Funeral services will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince St., Lancaster, PA  17603, on Tuesday morning at 10AM. Interment in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. A viewing will be held Monday evening at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA from 6-8PM.
