Jeanne W. Leib, 95

September 21, 2023

Jeanne W. Leib died peacefully Thursday, September 21, 2023 at LGH after a brief illness. She was 95 years old. Born in Hanover, PA she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Mildred Wagner. Jeanne was the wife of the late Ronald J. Leib with whom she shared over 70 years of marriage before his passing in 2021.

Jeanne graduated from Hanover High School where she met her future husband. She faithfully wrote numerous letters to him while he was enlisted in the U.S. Navy for 2 years and graduated from the Pierce School of Business in Philadelphia in 1948 with an Associate degree in Business Administration.

In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling across the country in the RV, cooking, sewing, as well as being a full-time mom to raise her two children. She was a frequent volunteer at Trinity Lutheran Church and Highland Presbyterian Church. Jeanne was also a member of the women’s auxiliary at LGH. The time spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren was cherished dearly.

She will forever be regarded as a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many.

Condolences to the Family

Brain and Susan,
So sorry for your loss. My dad (Edwin Myers) and I visited Ron and Jeanne when they lived outside of Lancaster by the airport. They were such a fun couple to visit and they always had a joke and stories to share.. Each always had a beautiful smile and a positive outlook.
Dad died about 4 years ago so I haven’t seen her since then but my brothers and sisters would often mention her in conversation.
Floyd was my dad’s uncle. . .he was a brother to Roxie. I remember visiting with Floyd when he lived in Hanover. I was just a small child at that time but vividly remember those visits and again all the stories.
Again, so sorry for your loss. Will keep you all close in love and prayers.

Our hearts mourn our dear Jeaane who was so much a part of our extended family for so many years. We will always cherish those memories and are so glad that she and her husband, Ronald, were able to visit us so often and share their lovely family with us. We were blessed to know them and know they will miss her so very much. Our prayers go out to them. She lives on in all of our hearts forever.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Jeanne.  She was a member of the Assimilation Team and did wonderful work welcoming people to Highland Presbyterian Church. I so enjoyed working with her on this committee.  I also served home communion to Jeanne and Ron for many years.  It was a pleasure to visit people with such stong faith in Jesus.  With all their health struggles, they remained positive and welcoming.  The last time I saw Jeanne was in July.  Her smile could warm up a cold room and make my day better.  I will miss those visits!
Again, so sorry for your loss.  She is with her beloved Ron now.

Dear Brian and Susan,   I am Connie Towers, and I dearly loved your mom and dad.  I was running new members classes at Highland Presbyterian Church when they left Trinity and came to join us.  For a number of years these “peas in a pod” as they called themselves, helped me with welcoming new members.  They were part of our assimilation team, the “A Team”.  Jeanne had beautiful handwriting and would address cards we sent.  They were always smiling.  Ron and Jeanne were at my home for picnics every summer, even helped pack up my kitchen when we moved from Rothsville area to Centerville.
Barb Droz and I visited and brought them communion four times a year once they were not attending church.  That continued when they had their “two room apartment” at Village Manor.  I came to Ron’s service at Highland.  Calling to talk with Jeanne after that was harder with her hearing.  But Barb and I continued to visit her even though she could no longer take communion.  Her smile always lit up when she saw our faces.  I was saddened to see the obituary today, as we planned to visit her next Wednesday.  But I was also thankful for her.  I know she has not been well for too long.  And she dearly missed Ron.
Thank you for the care you have shown your parents.  They loved to talk about you and the twins and all the kids.
I am unsure that I will make it this Saturday, unless it is VERY briefly at 10 am.  I am scheduled to take 5 grandchildren to the Fulton kids series.  The play starts at 11 and we usually leave our home in Hempfield at 10:15, so not likely.  I am so sorry.  Therefore, this long letter 🙂
I loved your mom and dad – they were special friends.  Very kind, thoughtful, appreciative, caring people. Others of their friends – Jerry and Al Knouse, Dan and Joan Randall – also worked with me on A team.  I plan to see them all again someday, with our Lord God.
My sympathy,  Connie Towers
